Sorry guys… gotta dash to Oxford Street….
Thanks to everyone who came down to our market stall yesterday at the Sunday Up Market on Brick Lane. It was a great day.. and so many lovely things to see! We’ll be there again next Sunday (and the one after that!) so please do come down and say hello if you can! Here are some piccies of our stall…
For anyone unable to visit, don’t forget to have a look at Karin Akesson and Ros Shiers‘ online shops to buy direct! And of course, if you like the look of my ceramic Pianoforte tiles, please just give me a shout!
For anyone who might be in the Brick Lane area this Sunday, pop along to the Up Market at the Old Truman Brewery, where I will be selling my Pianoforte ceramic tiles (stall number 084). Each tile is £15..though I am offering a very *special* price of £25 for a pair – should two happen to catch your eye!
Please come along and say hi! It will be lovely to meet you! Kx
Here are some really nice, original pieces of jewellery (plus a door stop!) to share with you, thanks to OFFCUT design. Michael Harris and Gemma Gourlay formed OFFCUT in 2008, designing and making their own range of homewares and jewellery (predominately from discarded materials!). They are lovely, aren’t they? I really like the bow necklace particularly!!
Have a look here to see where you can by your own piece of OFFCUT!!! Pop into Shelf on Cheshire Street just off Brick Lane, also, to see some of their collection for yourself! Shelf is a fantastic little shop where (on Thursdays – Sundays!) you can find all sorts of amazing pieces of..well.. everything! Ceramics…homeware…jewellery…furniture..artwork…everything! It’s definitely a fantastic place to visit for any pressie-buying!!
I have been keeping my eyes open for something like this for a little while now…(for whenever we finally buy our new home!). I am not a great lover of net curtains..they get too dirty too easily and don’t always fit into the overall ‘look’ of the room..and I often like having objects on my window frames (cos i’ve got too darn many!). BUT I like the patterns that these friendly, cosy, homely ‘necessities’ can bring..not to mention the privacy. Especially if you are blessed with very little space between you having your dinner in front of the telly, and the no.36 bus!
Soooooooooo Emma Jeffs has the perfect solution. Her White Collection’ window films are – to my mind – wonderful!!!! They are white, beautiful patterns printed onto a frosted film. They allow light in, but the view is blurred if you look out, giving the appearance of frosted glass.. And from the outside, if an internal light is on, it is only possible to make out diffused shapes. I love the patterns..inspired by textiles, architecture, nature and geometry…
Here they are in more detail, to give you a better picture…each roll /sheet size is 100 x 120 cms (1 x 1.2m) and costs £49 plus p&p. For more sales info click here:
If you are keen to experiment with these patterns above before committing to a whole roll, you can purchase a sample pack online for a mere £4.00, incl.p&p. Each pack contains 6 x A6 samples plus 1 x White Collection booklet. Yay!
Anyone who is anyone must be aware of Marimekko. Established in 1951, this Finnish textile design company began designing and manufacturing beautiful, Scandinavian-inspired, clothing, interior decoration textiles, accessories and tableware. They are, in fact, gods.
I wanted to share with you one of their ranges which I have liked for ages and ages, and have been meaning to feature for some time. Say hello to the Oiva tableware collection below…also known as In Good Company… It’s what Marimekko want you to do – to enjoy this collection while enjoying good company! The collection has been designed by Sami Ruotsalainen, a graduate of the University of Art and Design Helsinki with a Master’s Degree in ceramic and glass design. It’s gorgeous isn’t it?
To find your local Marimekko outlet, have a look here and pay them a visit – d e f i n i t e l y worthwhile!
Pet portraits!!!!! Need I actually say anything more?! Probably not.. though i’m going to anyway… How brilliant are these little fellows? Especially in the frames. Each chappy is crafted reusing and preserving old lace, buttons, cut-glass buttons, pearls and other found treasures. The very clever Donya Coward has created these by hand…and two of the gang will feature in a collaborative installation with Margo Selby at a forthcoming exhibition (private view 1st July 6pm – 8pm). Ad-or-ab-le.
